What Is A Doula?

A doula is a trained, professional, labor assistant who provides physical and emotional support during labor and birth.

A doula supports you in your decisions and advocates for your wishes about birth.

Studies have shown that having a doula at your birth may help with the following:

  • A decreased use of pain medication in labor

  • A decreased incidence of C-sections

  • A decrease in the length of labor

  • A decrease in negative childbirth experiences

  • Higher APGAR scores for babies
